Metal Retaining Walls

The use of metal retaining walls are more often limited to heavy duty construction sites such as docks, bridges, seawalls, ditch checks, dams, and the like. The relative weight to strength ratio of steel plates makes them suitable for heavy duty construction use. They are super fast to install and uninstall – perfect for fast pace construction.

Metal retaining walls are often seen holding large volume of soil in deep excavation sites. The lightweight metal is easy to transport from one site to the next thereby cutting on transportation cost. Steel sheet retaining walls are often not meant to be installed permanently in construction sites. They need to be move as the construction progress, that's why a lightweight material that packs maximum strength is chosen for this purpose.

The steel sheets are quick to install to avoid construction delays. Because metals don't break, they can be driven by vibrating hammers without incurring any damage. The metal to metal interlocking system holds the sheets strongly to withstand massive lateral and gravitational force, too. And, metal retaining wall building materials can also withstand impact from moving heavy equipments or debris, which are common in construction sites. They are really built to live another day.

But even though metal retaining walls are dependable to hold tremendous force, they significantly lack in style. Often times installing them needs vibrating hammer that can be destructive to the neighboring properties. That is why they are almost never used in landscaping. You’ll see them often holding soil when there’s a construction going on in an already developed neighborhood, but they are taken out once the construction is finished.
